The south Asian expatriate community in general and the Pakistani community in particular are contributing significantly to the growth of cricket in Saudi Arabia, says Pakistan’s legendary cricketer Wasim Akram.
“Saudi Arabia has a good number of cricket lovers. The majority of Pakistanis as well as others from the Subcontinent love the game and cricket is thriving in the Kingdom,” Akram told Arab News.
“Though this is only my second visit to Saudi Arabia, I like this country very much,” he said.
Akram is here at the invitation of Moneygram to witness the finals of Moneygram Cricket Ke Badshah (King of Cricket) tournament organized by the Saudi Cricket Center in 4 cities, said SCC CEO Nadeem Nadwi. Akram will be traveling to Yanbu to witness the final.
